Warranty & Care

If you’ve purchased a Rip Curl watch from an authorised Rip Curl Australia retailer, you’re in luck! We offer a comprehensive Watch Warranty policy.

Our warranties only apply to watches purchased from authorised Rip Curl retailers (with purchase receipt from an authorised retailer). Without limitation to this, our warranties do not apply to products purchased from non-authorised online retailers, on Ebay or similar auction sites as we have no certainty as to where such products are sourced and how they have been treated.

Two years on Movements from the date of purchase. Note: A Movement is the part inside the Watch that makes it work, but it does not include the Crown, sometimes called the Winder.

Two years on Waterproof from the date of purchase.

Note: We recommend all Watches be serviced, resealed and tested for water resistance every year as heat, temperature changes, salt and other elements will diminish waterproofness over time. Have this done at the Rip Curl Watch Service Center and we will then issue a new warranty for another year.

One year on batteries from the date of purchase.

Note: Rip Curl's Service Center can replace all batteries and at the same time will reseal and test the watch functions and water resistance. We will then issue a new one year warranty on the new battery.

If your battery can’t be saved, our in-house watch service centre will replace it and will, at the same time, reseal and test the watch functions and water resistance. If you’d like to read about our Watches Warranty policy in more detail, you can do so by clicking the link below

Not very good for gps connection

"I bought this after having the gps1. Design is nice but that’s where the complement end. Most of my surfs it doesn’t pick up many of my waves actually surfed and takes forever to connect to the satellites, hard when you are just excited to get into the water. I wouldn’t buy this again or recommend."

Best feature in the GPS watch. . . no longer exists!

"I have been surfing since 1987 and got the original RipCurl GPS1 watch in 2015…and later the GPS2 (which I still use today and have logged over 1,700 hours in the water). I am addicted to it. . . and if I forget to wear the watch for a surf. . . I have to go home and get it. However, Rip Curl deleted THE BEST FEATURE when they released the GPS3 - the ability to read your GPS coordinates live while in the water tracking your surf session. When you could read the coordinates, you no longer had to triangulate objects on the coast in order to know where you sit in the lineup. I could paddle out at my home break and sit pretty much exactly where I want to purely based on memorizing the last portion of GPS digits which relate to specific parts of the reef or recent sandbar. If a rip current pushes everyone in the lineup off the peak. . . I know exactly where to paddle back to. I also love this for surf trips. You can step off the plane in somewhere like Nicaragua. . . never know the break. . . but after sitting near the takeoff you can again memorize the last digits of the GPS coordinates and quickly sit as deep as you want and catch a ton of waves. . . just like you have the place wired from years of knowledge. Anyway. . . not sure if what I described makes sense. . . but managing where you sit in the lineup based on GPS and not via triangulation was by far. . . a game changer for any surfer. If possible…Rip Curl should release a software update that brings back live GPS readings when you are tracking your surf session."

owned all three!

"This is my third ripcurl watch. I must say this one is by far the best! I did notice the band is a litte smaller which was harder to put on when wearing a 5m wetsuit. Much thinner than it's previous versions. I did notice the ripcurl gps app crashes a lot. I do like that it counts my steps. I do like how thin and how the watch looks! I was a litte disappointed in the ride tracking it put my snowboarding into waves on gps app which was annoying. I have read you can pair this watch with strava however I could not fiqure that out. As far tracking my surfs it works better than older models. I wish they upadated the charging cable to usb-c. Overall I am happy with it!"

Great Watch. App requires subscription.

"The watch is obviously not perfect, as GPS can have hard time locating when your arm is deep underwater. However it usually does its job. The downside is the app is 30$ a year. Such a sell out from RC. Had these kinds of watches since the first gen and unsure how much more I’ll continue to pay."

Watch works but tide function and moon phase are not very accurate

"This watch was supposed to be an upgrade from my GPS2 RipCurl Tide Watch. . . . . . . . but I am finding that the tide function, the wave count function and moon phase are less than accurate in their readings. I may still keep the watch to use as a throwaway when traveling abroad, but I would consider Garmin or Apple for more accurate readings. Sorry Rip Curl. . . . . . . . . . . the software for your new watch could be your achilles heel. . . . . ."

Great update!

"I had the series 2 of this watch for a few years and it was amazing. Got the series 3 for Christmas and it's a really nice upgrade. It keeps the same core features but is a bit slimmer and adds some new functionality. That said, it keeps things minimal so the battery lasts a long time and you aren't getting useless and annoying features (like text messages or whatever) while you're out in the water. Feels like a watch made by surfers/for surfers."

Epic watch - waiting over a week for tech support.

"I really love the GPS3 watch itself — it’s comfortable, works well, and has been great for tracking my surfs. Unfortunately Rip Curl support has been really disappointing. I’ve been waiting over a week for help getting app access, and I’ve already committed to a full year subscription but can’t even log into my account. The watch feels like a great product, but without the app access I haven’t been able to properly explore what I paid for, and it’s becoming frustrating."
