Shop Men’s Springsuit Wetsuits

A springsuit covers the core and leaves the limbs free, sitting in the gap between a rash vest and a steamer. Rip Curl men's springsuits run from 1mm to 2mm across short sleeve, long sleeve, and sleeveless cuts, depending on how much coverage you need. Not sure which thickness suits your break? The men's wetsuit guide has the full breakdown.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a springsuit and a steamer?

A springsuit covers the core and leaves the arms and legs free, built for water between 16°C and 22°C. A steamer runs wrist to ankle and is built for water below 16°C. If your regular break drops below that, the men's steamers range picks up where springsuits leave off.

What thickness springsuit do I need?

A 2mm springsuit covers most Australian conditions, including summer sessions in Victoria, NSW, and SA. Drop to 1mm for tropical water in Queensland, the NT, or on surf trips where core warmth is all you need. Below 16°C, step up to a 3/2mm steamer. Above 22°C, a rash vest is enough. For in-between conditions, jackets, vests and wetsuit bottoms help bridge the gap.

What cut of springsuit should I choose?

Short sleeve and short leg suits are the most versatile option, covering the core without slowing the arms down in water above 18°C. A long sleeve cut is worth considering when wind chill is doing more damage than the water temperature, particularly on early autumn mornings. Sleeveless styles maximise arm freedom for warm water above 21°C.
