The International GromSearch Final Is Heading To Hossegor

We are stoked to announce that this year’s Rip Curl International GromSearch Final covered by Sun Bum will take place in Hossegor, France, from November 4th to 8th, 2025.
Since crowning the 2024 champions in Bali last November, this year’s GromSearch series has spanned the globe with events across North America, Australia, Europe, Indonesia, Brazil, and South Africa, uncovering the best junior surfing talent worldwide.
Once all National Winners have been crowned, they will prepare to head to Hossegor, a wave rich region in the South of France, to compete for the coveted International Champion title.
“We’re so excited to bring the world’s best groms to Hossegor for this year’s International Final, a region famous for its world-class beach breaks and consistent swells,” said James Taylor, Rip Curl’s General Manager of Marketing.
“We’ve scoured the globe to find our finalists, and the level of surfing from this next generation is truly mind-blowing. GromSearch has long been a launching pad for World Champions, Olympians, and Championship Tour athletes, and we can’t wait to see who comes out on top this year.”
The event will feature 16 competitors, eight female and eight male, representing Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Europe, Indonesia, the United States, South Africa, and more. Additionally, one male and one female wildcard will join the field, selected from the 10-day virtual #GromSearchOnline competition kicking off October 1st.
Adding to the excitement, recently crowned World Surfing Champion Molly Picklum and Championship Tour surfer Crosby Colapinto will also be making the trek over to Hossegor to partake in all the action.
Since 1999, the GromSearch series has been a launching pad for over 40,000 surfers aged 16 and under.
Past winners include WSL World Champions Caitlin Simmers, Caroline Marks, and Gabriel Medina. Other notable winners include Championship Tour surfers Erin Brooks, Brisa Hennessy, Samuel Pupo, Leonardo Fioravanti, Tatiana Weston-Webb, Owen Wright, and one of the most stylish free surfers on the planet, Mason Ho, among many other greats of the sport.
The impact of the GromSearch series over the past 26 years is undeniable:
- 2025 WSL World Tour: Over 60% of current CT athletes are former GromSearch winners.
- Olympics: Five of the six medalists at the last two Olympic Games competed in Rip Curl GromSearch.
- WSL World Champions: The last 18 WSL Women’s World Titles have been won by GromSearch finalists.
